A mandatory evacuation has forced all 70,000 Fort McMurray residents to leave their homes in search of safety – the largest fire-related evacuation in the province’s history.

The Canadian Red Cross is helping families impacted by the massive wildfires. Staff and volunteers are providing accommodations, food, and water—in addition to family reunification services.

Canadians wishing to make a financial donation can do so by visiting redcross.ca or calling 1-800-418-1111. All individual donations are being matched by the Government of Canada.

Americans wishing to make a financial donation can do so by visiting redcross.org. Under “Use my donation to support” select “Canada Wildfires”.
